This tiny coffee/sweet spot fills up on weekends with families and churchgoers displaying a religious devotion to Belgian waffles. The brainchild of neighborhood native Tremaine Wright (a litigation lawyer by day), the hospitable eatery is a definite upgrade for gritty Tomkins Avenue. On the menu are fresh-pressed panini, soups, and treats—everything from ice cream to monstrous cakes to cookies. But the waffles are the main draw. Made to order and available in a half-dozen flavors, these breakfast staples are so good they deserve to be served on china. Instead, they arrive on Styrofoam.
