After two decades as a New York chef-for-hire, Frank Crispo has finally landed an open kitchen of his own, where he's serving up delicious Italian-Mediterranean fare like mint-braised artichokes and a sliced hanger steak that puts most French bistros to shame (even minus the frites). The cozy room, the friendly service, and the gentle prices make this place a terrific addition to the neighborhood, but we'd come back for Frank's plate of lovingly sliced prosciutto alone. — Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

what's not to like about crispo's the food is great and it doesnt burn a hole in your pocket, not to mention its strategically located downtown in chelsea.

we were seated in the large dining room at the back of the restaurant. There were some large parties and the noise was crazy. Really not the place to have a quiet dinner when 2 or 4 in a party ...Never again ...
