Profile

Few of the fervent regulars—including the city's media, fashion, and art-world elite—seem to recall an Italian restaurant whose menu wasn't sopping in red sauce before Da Silvano. The roasted standing duck is crackling, the lamb tender and moist, the artichoke salad brash. And not an eggplant-parmigiana hero in sight.

Dishonest place

Went there last Friday with a few friends -some from Italy and some from Brazil - and the restaurant tried to cheat on me charging the "gratuity" twice. They were probably counting on the fact that we were tourists and had had two bottles of wine... did not work for them. Besides, the food is not really good and certainly not worth the price they charge for it. Another one of those places they treat you as if you were an imbecil and they are doing you a favor. Disgusting.

Food is nothing special, so why is it over-priced? Perhaps to catch a glimpse of some movie star? Not worth it and not going back. It's an overrated fad place. Try Demarco's around the corner on Houston...delicious and fair-proced. An off-shoot of DiFara's Pizzeria (rated #1 in New York from Midwood, Brooklyn.
