Lip-locked lovers and large, loud groups pack the lower level of this romantic shabby-chic chintz mecca famous for formidable French-style fare prepared in a semi-open kitchen and served in a room straight out of Country Living magazine. Need a throw pillow for your bad back? The quaint room's lousy with 'em. Service can be brusque (a tinkling cell phone might even get you shown the door by Danal’s bellicose proprietor), and long sidewalk waits are notorious. A busy weekend brunch featuring a sublime croissant French toast filters over to the less-quaint upstairs space. The tête-à-tête set makes a beeline for the secluded outdoor patio seats during the heady summer months—good for grabbing a grope before your main course arrives.
