Profile

Tribeca has never been anyone’s idea of a pizza mecca, but things are looking up for the neighborhood with the addition of the third branch of Dean’s Family Style Restaurant & Pizzeria, which has a loose connection to the great Greek-American pieman Nick Angelis, of Nick’s and Adrienne’s fame. It’s already become a bustling social center for the drooling infants and gurgling tots who gather there nightly for a taste of the grandma or “old-fashioned square” pizza, which is served on a big sheet pan along with a handy pizza spatula.

The pizza was decent when they first opened but has not been good the last few times we went. I would be willing to give it another try but the service is TERRIBLE!!!!! The servers can't ever seem to get a pizza order correct (yes, they screwed up a cheese pizza order) and it takes so long to get a pizza to begin with... we always end up eating whatever incorrect pizza they bring us. Forget about getting a drink refill, wine beer or whatever (note to servers - more wine/beer means more $$$). Maybe they can't concentrate with ALL the screaming kids in the place... too bad because the neighborhood needs a decent pizza place.

Too bad there isn't an adult version of this restaurant

The food is pretty good but this place is only one notch below Chuck E Cheese's. If you're looking for a good pizzeria in Tribeca, try any pizzeria in Little Italy. Food is equally good if not better and you won't feel like you walked the gauntlet at an 8-year old's birthday party.
