The savvy team behind this city tavern did their market research with due diligence, and have crafted a spot that attracts Tribeca’s multi-faceted populace. A respectable beer list, creative cocktails, and menu of bar nibbles satisfy post-work tipplers; private rooms shelter bankers, brokers, and other take-a-meeting types; and an expansive menu ensures that loft-dwelling locals don’t burn out on the predominantly American fare. No matter how you define yourself, it’s easy to cozy up in the snug, dim interior, where fireplaces and cast-iron sconces cast an amber glow, and rustic brick archways top elegant ivory wainscoting. The menu, like the neighborhood, successfully knits the classic and the upscale, with tastefully dressed-up comfort foods: the meaty baby-back ribs, for example, are lavished with sweet, sharp spices. It’s rare that demographics translate so deliciously.
