This garment-district cafeteria makes the best and biggest bureks in town—titanic slabs of flaky phyllo pie hefted from the oven throughout the day. The spinach-and-cheese version is sublime, but the ground-beef is even better. The kitchen also turns out great servings of stuffed cabbage and beef goulash as well as cevapi, tasty Bosnian beef sausages served with feta, onion, and a peppery condiment so alarmingly bright red that in the absence of a flare, you could use it as a roadside distress signal. — Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

On a Thursday night we found an oasis of calm good service and food that tasted like going to a good restaurant in eastern Europe - in this case Croatia or Bosnia. They are famous for their "burek" -- justifiably so. We had a properly chilled salad made with the freshest ingredients, a spinach burek (the portions are large), a fine entree and a most amazing apple dessert. We will definitely return and sample some of the other dishes. This is a real find!
We work across the street and thought that this would be a quick place for lunch. Nope! 1 hour 45 minutes later, we got the check. Our tasty salads with shaved feta and our sodas came quickly, but we didn't get our bureks until we reminded the waitress, 45 minutes later, that we hadn't received our food yet. She was very nice and apologetic about it, but didn't seem to know what we were talking about. Bureks arrived lukewarm but still semi-tasty. I'd order again, but call ahead for takeout next time...and would get the spinach burek again.
Still, I've had WAY better bureks in the Bronx and Staten Island.
