Nestled on an unassuming corner of the Lower East Side in the former Little Giant space, this sweet Australian-American restaurant is home to creative cocktails, a variety of small plates, and an enticing atmosphere. With simple décor, an oversized marble bar and large, street-facing windows that remain open on nice nights, Dudley’s feels both romantic and bustling. A sleek vibe attracts cool Aussies and LES types to linger over cocktails and bites on a nightly basis. Though at times underseaoned, the food is agreeable. An open-faced prosciutto crostini topped with a fried egg and perfectly-crisp fries with truffle aioli proved particularly memorable; kale pesto over well-cooked pasta had promise, but fell just short of satisfying with muted flavors and a bland presentation. Similarly lacking in gusto wass the Brussels sprouts slaw, which arrived with too much mayo and too little salt.
