Profile

A semisweet stream for customers to plunge into headfirst like Augustus Gloop is about the only Wonkaesque thing missing from Dylan's Candy Bar, the supersize candy store across the street from Bloomingdale’s. (We're guessing it was the astronomical insurance premiums, plus the difficulty of hiring Oompa Loompas these days.) The brainchild of Dylan (daughter of Ralph) Lauren and Jeff Rubin (an FAO Schweetz co-creator), Dylan's is a dentist's nightmare of Skittles and M&Ms, a Pez zone, and custom-made sundaes, from Central Park Zoo to Candy Bar Blast. And if you're determined to take a bath in chocolate, head to the (inedible) Candy Spa, where you'll find Hot Chocolate Bath Salts, Cheeky Chocolate-Milk Bubble Bath, and chocolate candles—with a fragrance some might find more seductive than Polo.

Kids Cakes

So your precocious 4-year-old is bored with traditional birthday cakes already? Indulge her jaded eye with a one-of-a-kind creation from Dylan Lauren, like  solid-chocolate “moon pie cakes” or “birthday cake” ice cream.

(okay, i know the subject line is corny BUT) I loved DCB!! I recently had my 13th birthday party at a country club and invited all my friends. It was a Ralph-ish party, so I got the hors deurves from there to blend it with "Lauren". I got tons of chocolate stuff, from the truffles to the strawberries. And everyone loved it!!!! and so did I. although our final bill came out to $942, who cares? Not like the price matters to me anyway..... Have fun if you ever visit!!! Worth the wait (yes, crowded, but our candy was delivered, so I recommend that.)
