Profile

This venue is closed.

This all-booth, always-packed, 24-hour diner overlooking somewhat scenic Sheepshead Bay not only impresses with its classic lineup of burgers, omelettes, and matzo-ball soup, but also dips a toe into international waters with items like lemony chicken Francese and Greek go-tos. Bursting wrap sandwiches come in 33 varieties, souvlaki comes with a satisfyingly rich tsatsiki sauce, and the unexpected bistro-style salads (goat cheese, cranberries, Portobello mushrooms, and so on) complete the range. Pickles, three-bean salad, and a breadbasket do more than whet the appetite, but leave room—the menu might be huge, but the portions are enormous. The gargantuan theme carries through to the desserts—from the blueberry crumb cake to the sky-scraping slices of layer cake. To escape from the neon overhead lighting and noise in warm weather, head to the outdoor area where you might feel like you’ve left New York, from the abundance of Russian being spoken at the table next to you and the clouds of smoke.
