Feast your eyes on a dubious addition to the city’s culinary landscape—the Frito Lay pie at Fat Annie’s Truck Stop, a.k.a. F.A.T.S. We recommend pairing it with a bucket of Rolling Rock nips. Sure, the airy room full of Americana (Pillsbury Doughboy figurines, old iceboxes, vintage Texaco pumps) reeks of a tourist trap, but a look at the menu reveals more than a few items that appeal to our masticatory masochism: Chicken fried steak! Fried cheese curds! Tater tots topped with bacon, cheese, pickled jalapeños, scallions, and ranch dressing! We predict a Federline sighting in about 3, 2, 1... — Daniel Maurer

We went into Fat Annies since the restaraunt next door stout was full and the service was excellent. Even with the rush, the food was nicely prepared and tasted great. When I told the staff that I was about to be late for my show, they gave me the check and closed my tab with great urgency. Totally less than 2 minutes.

I can't imagine what inspired NY Mag's usually savvy reviewers to recommend this pathetic joint (and the previous lay reviewer must be a relative). Corporate version of truckstop decor; TVs spouting sports everywhere you look; cheesy, winking menu. Don't order the oyster po'boy unless you want a mouthful of oversalted and over-aged (i.e. spoiled ) bivalve. We spent $30 on two lunch entrees (no drinks, no dessert -- understandably), and you couldn't pay me to go back.
