This rustic restaurant ups the ante on a busy block of Third Avenue with excellent modern American cuisine and a fun, communal atmosphere. Small votive candles decorate each table of the cozy space; if you’re in a group, try to snag the communal table in the back for some privacy. The cuisine here is innovative and well executed: choose from the à la carte “share” and “plates” sections, as well as two separate “feast” prix fixe menus. Toasts topped with mushrooms and lardo, cured salmon, and chicken liver all pop with flavor, while beautiful beet ravioli stuffed with just a bit of goat cheese, olive crumble, and orange taste light and fresh. The larger porcini-crusted halibut arrives with a creamy eggplant caviar and airy truffle emulsion—a great option for the hungrier guest who also wants to eat healthily. Hearty desserts like warm rum bread pudding with a hint of orange-blossom cream are good notes to end on. Feast offers two prix fixe menus alongside its à la carte selections: the “Farmer’s Market Feast” for $38 per person and the “Nose to Tail Feast” for $48 per person. Both require full table participation.Prix fixe “Feast” menus
