Your first time at Georges, you may be the only one your waitress doesn't greet with easy familiarity, but come again and she’ll definitely remember you. This Greek diner in the classic mold, serving Brooklyn since 1957, is a Sunset Park civic center that draws a daily stream of neighborhood ladies with shopping carts, who stop by for soup or pastrami, and an endless cuppa joe. The typical plates of fluffy omelets and pancakes in the morning, big burgers and club sandwiches in the afternoon, and steaks, chops and stuffed seafood entrées at night are replicated on roadsides all over the tri-state area. If daily specials (fishcakes and spaghetti on Fridays, corn beef & cabbage on Thursdays) read like the menu from your dining childhood, then, like the local business folk and hungry gamblers from the OTB across the street, you may find Georges beckons your return.
Recommended DishesOmelettes, $6.25-$7.50; pastitsio, $7.50; eggplant rollatine, $12.95
