With four small tables, a cluttered front counter, and zero ambiance, this Chinese takeout joint epitomizes the hole-in-the-wall cliché. The décor, for instance, is limited to tattered pages from old Chinese calendars and a large Buddha statue near the cash register. But despite its cramped quarters—and the generic photos of entrée items along the wall—the food isn't bad. Meals are inexpensive (lunch specials are under $6), and the menu hits on all the standard combinations as well as one rather inexplicable addition of fried chicken with pork-fried rice. The staff is amiable; the service is fast; now you just have to decide whether your apartment's clean enough for guests to help you finish off the egg rolls.
