Minister, attorney, developer, and playwright, Joseph H. Holland, adds restaurateur to his Harlem-centered portfolio with Gospel Uptown. The 500-seat space has a soundstage for live jazz, weekend gospel brunches, open mic nights, and variety shows plus an eclectic soul fusion menu. Texan chef-partner Kenneth Collins remembers cooking with his grandmothers, but we don’t know too many grandmas with his taste for architectural plating and healthy eating, underscored by the restaurant’s lineup of non-alcoholic cocktails. Fried chicken, however, did make the cut.
