Profile

The food at Grano Trattoria is comforting in all the right ways. Rich, sauce-laden fresh pastas and an entrée menu with a focus on game make for more interesting comfort food than you'd whip up at home. Add sweet service and reasonable prices, and you've got a decent neighborhood Italian joint for those evenings when you're willing to put on shoes but not lipstick.

My wife and I decided to visit Grano for a pre-show, first anniversary dinner - mainly for its proximity to our apartment on Greenwich Avenue. We both enjoy the occasional Italian dinner, but are not afficinados. The ambiance was very pleasant with the staff welcoming and accommodating. We arrived a bit early for our Friday night reservation, but had no wait around 6pm (although Im sure that would not have been the case later). We each had a fine dish (she the stuffed chicken, me the Grano Pizza) and split the Grano Salad and a reasonable bottle of Chianti. My wife especially enjoyed the whipped garlic butter that came with the bread selection. My one complaint (that I kept to myself) was the Grano pizza came topped with WAY too much arugola (I essentially ate two salads that night). All-in-all, not a bad first anniversary dinner.
