Though the walls of this unassuming, all-night diner are adorned with murals of Hellenic landmarks, Greece has little impact on the menu, even with 14 omelets named after the Aegean Islands. Classics of another kind typify the food selections, as the old-school Park Slope habitués clearly value the restaurant's traditional diner fare: Belgian waffles, lavishly embellished burgers, big salads, and a smattering of pastas, grilled meats and seafood. The food is notable for its freshness—even the heaping sides of spinach and mashed potatoes have clearly never seen the inside of a box—and the care taken with preparation, but dishes can be underspiced. Mozzarella and zucchini sticks, for instance, come fried to a crisp, but accompanied by a bland tomato sauce. The few Greek dishes fare better, with the rich moussaka thick with cream sauce and the pastichio offering a lush, meaty riff on macaroni and cheese. And there's a sweet finish, with old-fashioned milkshakes brought to your table in the silver mixer.
