This old-fashioned ice-cream parlor—complete with original signage and no-nonsense waitresses—has held ground in Bay Ridge since 1949. The bare-bones menu hasn’t changed all that much either: omelettes, hamburger deluxes, and sandwiches like liverwurst, sliced egg, or ham and tomato. The spotlight goes to homemade ice cream, which finds its way onto pies and mixed in sundaes and milkshakes. Perhaps the best iteration is a thick ice-cream soda, speared with a straw and spoon, and served in a tall glass with a (crucial) tin bowl underneath to collect any spillage. If a sweets craving endures dessert, handmade chocolate and candy are sold on the way out.
