After spending a lot of time in Vietnam I returned to New York and stumbled upon this great place. Friendly and efficient staff, delicious authentic vietnamese food and great prices!
In a neighborhood filled to the brim with upscale business lunch destinations (NoBu, Wolfgangs, Devlin) and seamlessweb.com types of storefronts, Hoi An is a welcome and cozy place to get home-style Vietnamese and Japanese meals. Of course they deliver (even to the hinter-lands of northwest TriBeCa, hooray!) but choose to take your dinner here because the restaurant itself has homey charm (including photos of Vietnamese street scenes and markets). The staff is shy but friendly and more than willing to help you figure out what to order from the charming and picture-filled English-As-A-Second-Language menu. Two of us went for steaming bowls of Pho and a side of simply prepared delicious grilled okra, plus beers and our lovely, very satisfying meal came to $30 including tip. If you order the bitter melon entree, you'll be pleasantly surprised -- and the staff will be proud of your adventurous spirit!
