As befits the name, there’s a requisite mural of the Hollywood sign, a come-hither shot of Marilyn Monroe, and one pita sandwich named for Howard Stern (chicken with bacon and Swiss) and another for Robert DeNiro (pastrami and Swiss). But really, this cheery Chelsea diner with its sea-green vinyl booths is more down-home Greek than downtown L.A. A faux skylight daubed with fluffy clouds hovers over the condiment-laden tables, while the joke-cracking Greek owners (“we deliver everywhere—except Hollywood!”) work the counter. Cinnamon-tinged challah French toast has pound-cake heft; turkey sausages arrive plump to bursting; milkshakes are satisfyingly thick. This is comfort food that does just that. Even so, Greek’s the way to go. After chowing on the tangy spinach pie, it’s lights, camera ... inaction.
Recommended DishesSpinach pie, $14.25; French toast, $7.55
