When it’s late and the free Chex mix isn’t cutting it, pub crawlers head for this dependable Middle Eastern eatery for something hotter and more substantial. Coriander-brushed chicken skewers are livened up with hot-pepper flakes then cooled by parsley-flecked yogurt sauce; springy balls of pumpkin kibbeh yield almond slivers tangled in spinach; crunchy falafel–made in the shape of a heart (a Syrian touch)–benefits from a lemony finish. All the usual honey-sweetened suspects make an appearance in the dessert display case. The narrow interior is dominated by a well-scrubbed kitchen, making the handful of vinyl booths seem like an afterthought and the fish tank a valiant attempt to spruce up the humdrum. In good weather, the outdoor tables may be the cheapest sidewalk seats in the Village.
ExtraDelivery is available to Chelsea, Soho, and the East Village with a $15 minimum and to the rest of Manhattan with a $25 minimum.
