If you're looking for a cheap bowl of pasta, this may not be your place. Unless of course you have the discipline to order a single plate and no extras, like delicious antipasto, or perhaps a glass of wine, and decent coffee. If you are Italian, or you have been there, this is the best place I have dined at in New York. And I am from Melbourne, so I am fussy. The waiters know the menu backwards and take great pride in reciting the specials. When I went back two days later, the same waiter remembered that I would not be interested in the veal special. You will read elsewhere that this place is expensive. Well it is and it isn't. It's not a place perhaps for a large group unless they're celebrating and "the boss" is paying. But for a romantic lunch or dinner, or a classy business lunch, this place has it all. If you are looking to impress someone who knows their food, take them here, it's low key and discreet but the food and service is outstanding.
