This casual neighborhood restaurant near Lincoln Center serves hit-or-miss Italian food. The outdated main dining room and bar is haphazardly furnished with violins and framed head shots of opera stars, but the glassed-in corner corridor provides decent views of passersby. Some tempting flavor combinations, like a recent eggplant with goat cheese dish, and scallops served with spinach and currants, arrive dry and tasteless, but basics succeed, such as the large portion of homemade pappardelle alla bolognese with a hearty ragu.
Lunch: Mon-Fri, $19; Dinner: Mon-Thu, $35
