The owner of Cafe Asean has branched out with a second restaurant whose poured-concrete floor, pleated acoustical-tile ceiling, and recessed light boxes are as much a modern departure from Asean's rustic hominess as the upscale New American menu is from satay and spring rolls. But Asian accents still appear in dishes like duck with bok choy and shitake mushrooms in a red wine and anise sauce. — Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld
Please do not go here! Categorizing Jefferson under "in spot" and "bar scene" is completely misleading. Food was awful- ribeye is like a tv dinner and red snapper is bathed in coconut- yuck! Service is slow and unattentive. Overpriced, just plain bad. Small menu too.
Friends were in town visiting for a few days and I suggested, for their final night in town, Jefferson. Boy what I mistake!
After we were seated 40 minutes after our reservation time, we got the waitress from hell. After ordering wine, which took her 30 minutes to bring, she had no idea of simple questions regarding the menu. Then she proceeded to spill water all over 3 out of 4 of us without an apology! Main course came without the second bottle of wine and our meal got cold. She got the dessert order wrong. We ordered the cheese plate not the cheese cake. It was 3 hours of pure hell. I have gotten better service at the McD's down the street! Beware of the strawberry blonde, curly haired waitress.
One the top side the food was quite good but the service was so bad and there are so many other good restaurants, it's just not worth it!
