Jezebel has a stunning atmosphere reminiscent of a 1920s Louisiana plantation. Wrought iron chairs, antique crystal chandeliers, vintage posters, a garden gate, and actual wooden porch swings hang from the ceiling, where groups of four or more can sway while they dine. Palm plants are scattered throughout the room and at each table and on the weekends live piano music accompanies your meal. Southern hospitality and old-fashioned, excessive helpings rule here, with authentic Charleston she-crab soup, finger-lickin’ sweet & spicy honey chicken (so tender the meat falls off the bone), and spicy Creole seafood. Just about everything comes with collared greens, candied yams, okra, plantains, black-eyed peas, or grits. It’s overpriced for what is, essentially dressed-up soul food. So, skip it if you’re counting pennies—or calories.
Recommended DishesHoney chicken, $23.75; Charleston she-crab soup, $11.75
