At the tip of City Island, the seaport of the Bronx, Johnny’s Famous Reef Restaurant has drawn crowds since 1950 serving cafeteria-style boardwalk eats. Get in line for steamed or fried lobster, shrimp, clams, oysters and an assortment of fish piled on top of a mountain of fries. Landlubbers may select from burgers, hotdogs and even frogs’ legs. Once you’ve chosen, chow down outside as you watch the boats sail by on the Long Island Sound. It ain’t glitzy, but it sure is good.
Recommended DishesClam chowder, $3.50; fried lobster tails, $22; fried shrimp, $12; fried calamari, $10; frogs’ legs, $8; little neck clams on the half shell, $10
