Profile

Hearty and healthy dishes are the specialty at this West African restaurant in Clinton Hill. Named after a region in Senegal, Joloff is decorated with Native African paintings decking yellow walls, while bright orange curtains surround the large windows as well as hang from the ceiling above blue-tiled floors. There are numerous vegetarian (and vegan) options on the menu, where tofu successfully absorbs the rich and spicy flavors of curry, peanut butter sauce or tomato sauce. The grilled lamb chops, though tough, are coated in a tasty marinade. The standout dish, however, is the tender braised chicken in onions and lemon sauce. Counteract the heat with an order of sweet plantains, and end your meal with the traditional sweet couscous and yogurt mix, thiakry.

Recommended Dishes

Yassa ganar, $11; fried plantains, $3
