Park Slope’s Joy Kitchen is one of those generic Chinese takeout spots with a thin layer of wok grease over every surface. You’ve walked by a million of them during your time in the city, and you probably have to be pretty hungry to order from any one of them. Joy Kitchen is no exception. If you are absolutely starving and must eat here, you’ll find it the requisite giant, back-lit photographs of Technicolor menu items glowing above the counter. Vegetable dishes are surprisingly fresh even if the sauces are thick with cornstarch. Best to avoid the seafood, mealy beef, and dried-out pork, though chicken dishes are passable, relatively speaking.
Recommended DishesBroccoli with mushrooms in garlic sauce, $4.40-$7.60
