This bright and clean little takeout shop peddles R&R and possible enlightenment in a bottle, but it doesn’t come cheap. Smoothies easily run $10, and that doesn’t count any “boosters” you might go for, like coconut oil (which aids in weight loss) or energy boosting spirulina. While many feature the intense undertaste of raw cacao, the Rain Forest is a bright and refreshing blend of lemon, mint, coconut water, banana, and a few other somewhat tropical ingredients—add some vodka and you’d have the makings of an irresistible cocktail. Cold-pressed juices with names like “drink your salad” and “sweet potato pie” are offered already bottled—supposedly they stay fresh for three days in that state. You can buy these as one-offs or go full-bore with a three- or five-day cleanse if you have a few hundred bucks to spare. For those times when you’d like a snack you can chew, a refrigerator case holds a handful of solid-food options, including sandwiches and salads packed to go. One of the more unusual offerings, raw ravioli, features “pasta” made of thinly sliced turnip rounds which encases cashew “cheese”; topped with the accompanying raw pesto, it’s tasty and invigorating, like most things here.
