Following a 35th anniversary makeover completed in late 2008, this Williamsburg onetime greasy spoon now boasts a shiny new look, full bar, live lobster tank, and proper entrance (no more walking through a convenience store to be seated). Beyond the neon sign outside and the hip, florescent red lights hanging above the bar, higher quality eats arrive on stylish, modern dishware. The standard and extensive 24-hour diner menu of breakfasts, sandwiches, and seafood dishes is augmented by homey entrees like the surf-n-turf (T-bone steak, rock lobster tail, and fried fillet of sole) as well as Greek and Italian specialties, such as spinach pie and parmigianas. A traditional and tempting dessert case offers a rotating variety of sweets from chocolate layer cake to banana cream pie. Kellogg’s around-the-clock service still caters to ravenous night owls who stop in for a late burger and fries (the Kellogg’s Burger comes with bacon, mushrooms, sautéed onions and swiss cheese) or fried fixes like chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks before heading home or catching the L train, only steps from the entrance, after a night of ‘burg bar hopping.Recommended Dishes
