Profile

This venue is closed.

At this casual Williamsburg pizzeria, owner Kenny Perrone bakes his thin-crust artisanal pies in a brick oven modeled after the 130-year-old one at his former venture in the neighborhood, Brick Oven Gallery. Though that spot was forced to shutter in 2008 owing to rent increases, Perrone’s comeback, with it simple menu and small dining room (plus a backyard that triples seating in warm months), is refreshingly straightforward. One featured appetizer, Brooklyn (read: “poor man’s”) caviar, is Perrone’s mother’s addictive mélange of pureed of eggplant, roasted peppers, and tomatoes, served with olive tapenade and toasted pita bread. Entrees are limited to several classic Italian chicken dishes, a fish of the day, and the Cabernet pork: four cubes of tender meat topped in a wine reduction and served with seasoned potato wedges and broccoli rabe. The main attraction is the pizzas, covered in subtly sweet tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and toppings that range from the basics (sun-dried tomatoes, sausage, artichokes) to more gourmet choices, including goat cheese, sopressata, and truffle oil.

Recommended Dishes

Cabernet pork, $13; any pizza, $9-13
