Profile

Tired of the ethnic airline cuisine of Sixth Street? Trek a couple of blocks north to St. Marks and sink into a plush corner at Khyber Pass. Though located in the heart of the East Village, the place has an out-of-the-way feel, dim and cozy without being claustrophobic, a perfect spot for romantics on a budget. As you might expect from a restaurant that takes its name from an ancient Afghan trade route, the menu features ingredients from all over the region—with staples like yogurt, saffron, and basmati rice—but Asian elements like pistachios and pomegranate juice also make an appearance.

Tasty food and friendly service in a cozy little restaurant. The food was deliciuos, and the menu was extensive. One of the nicest things about this place is that the servers were very friendly and welcoming. I love it!

Well in my opinion this was a really good spot!!--Small and intimate, with middle eastern decor keeps a nice cozy feeling! They had this one set up to your immediate left upon walking in, that has a table and a nice cushion area surrounding it. The cushions we high and allowed you to sit indian style while eating, which I thought was cool. It was perfect for me and my lady friend as it seemed to seperate us from the rest of the room! Which allowed me to pay the uttermost attention to her, and not the group of young women who were having a girls night out a few tables away!(man just my luck, jk:)~ , But the place keeps a nice themed afghan feel. Not to mention its a great lounge spot leaning on pillows and cushions while smoking hooka which becomes available at 10:30!! i had a good time and the food was great!!
