Profile

Some menu items are often unavailable—others perpetually AWOL—and the friendly service sure can dawdle. But when it gets around to it, this Haitian restaurant serves a righteous lambi (conch stew). Ours contained a boatload of the feisty mollusks vigorously beaten into tender submission and simmered in an herby, tomato-based broth. Griot (crisp cubes of marinated, fried pork) and tasso (the goat version) are equally impressive, and come with a tiny cup of the delicious and fiery homemade hot-pepper condiment called piklis.

We went for dinner while on vacation; I had heard good things online and we decided to check it out. We can't say enough good things about the food. I had the goat - it was wonderful, not at all gamey or smelly, very similar to beef in flavour, good spices, good amount of heat. It came with a bean puree which was very tasty, fried plantains and rice. Everything was great. My boyfriend had the pork Griot and it was good as well. One of the owners was working that night and she was very friendly, happy, had good energy and was cheerful without being annoying. If you are looking for a GREAT meal that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I would suggest you go here. I only wish we could have eaten there again and tried the other dishes.

Everyone should try Kombit
