Fired in a traditional wood-burning oven, the classic Italian pizzas are undoubtedly the best options at Krescendo. With a chewy crust that isn’t too thick in the middle, the Finnochio Flower Power pie with braised fennel, sausage, and chili powder made chef Elizabeth Falkner a Next Iron Chef contender in 2012. The squid-ink pasta gives the traditional Italian menu a welcome flair, with cherry tomatoes and the catch of the day. The kale salad isn’t quite as tender as one might hope, so try the garlic knots or zesty meatballs as antipasta. For dessert, chocolate-lovers should opt for the tartufo, which boasts a standout gianduja semifreddo, while the cassata is a spritely mix of candied fruits and sorbet. If specialty cocktails are your poison, try the Derringer (bourbon and ginger) or the Faustini (rye, Benedictine, clove).Recommended Dishes
