Over the years, this Moroccan-Israeli spot has steadily made a name for itself as one of Prospect Heights’s premiere takeout joints. This is thanks to a more-than-dependable menu that effortlessly stretches beyond the usual falafel and shawarma to less-familiar fare like sabikh (fried eggplant) and shakshuka (a breakfast bowl of poached eggs, hummus, and madboukha, a Middle Eastern salsa). Much of the food is vegan, although carnivores can hardly complain given the beef-lamb pita platter with a side of spicy fries. Whether you’re game to try one of the pop-top cans of pickled peppers or cucumbers in brine displayed on the counter is another matter entirely. Kulushkat is here for both the adventurous local epicure and the gluttonous concertgoer dropping by on the way to the Barclays Center.
