With Orso perpetually overbooked, the theater district can always use another pre-curtain place, and this Aegean addition to Restaurant Row fits the bill, with its high ceilings, sandblasted windows, and the same executive chef as Ithaka, its West Village sibling. The menu covers all the Peloponnesian bases, from stuffed grape leaves and assorted spreads to clay-pot casseroles, charcoal-broiled fish, and rack of lamb.

Recommended Dishes

Assorted spreads, $12.95; stuffed grape leaves, $7.50; moussaka, $18.95; pastichio, $16.95; shrimp and scallops in clay pot, $22.95; whole broiled porgy, $25.95; rack of lamb for two, $49.95

I work near Kyma and wanted to take a co-worker for a holiday lunch last month. After reading NY Magazine's review, we decided to give it a try. What a disappointment. The service was terrible, I regret not asking the host that seated us to be our waiter. I feel so bad writing this because the food overall was very good and the host was very nice. The wait staff really needs to have some kind of training on how to respond to customers. I'm not expecting to be fawned over but it's frustrating when you are on a schedule to have to ask for things two or three times, get ignored, try to get someone else to help you before you finally get what you paid for. It's a shame because the location is great and the prices were decent. I'd never go back here or recommend it for a lunch or dinner.
