Profile
Al fresco dining in season is ever popular at this Soho ristorante, yet the gussied-up pizzeria interior’s checkered tablecloths and black-and-white Hollywood glossies hold significantly less charm, despite a Rat Pack–heavy jukebox and stately wooden bar. Neighborhood shoppers and luggage-shlepping tourists can peruse a voluminous menu dominated by Italian–American pastas, from proven hits like vodka sauce, olive oil and garlic, and marinara to capellini Monte Carlo, a riff on puttanesca that combines black olives, garlic, capers, and anchovies in a vibrant tomato-free dish that’s ample enough for two. Pumpkin ravioli, dabbed with sage butter, are a pleasant break from more routine fare. And if the tiramisu doesn’t quite transport you to Rome, lose yourself in the enormous La Dolce Vita poster and start making plans for a trip overseas.
Recommended DishesPumpkin ravioli with sage butter, $14.95; rock shrimp Monte Carlo on capellini, $17.95
