Profile

Make your way through the Woods, a dark bar in South Williamsburg, and past a covered, outdoor tiki bar to a small kitchen, where the Landhaus team is serving Southern-inspired, elevated bar food. You order at the counter and take a number, so that the server can find your picnic table (or bar stool) in the spacious backyard. Start with their famous bacon on a stick: a thick, fatty slab, covered in maple syrup and sprinkled with paprika. The lightly fried jalapeño Cheddar hush puppies are also honey-drizzled and just as delightful. Seafood options include a pair of double-wrapped, breaded fish tacos, fried wontons stuffed with crab and pimento cheese, and a shrimp burger. Better-than-average Southern fried wings are overshadowed by the ribs, which get slathered in a sweet barbecue sauce and topped with crushed peanuts and cilantro. The simple lamb burger is nicely balanced with whipped feta, caramelized onions, and harissa chili pepper sauce. The backyard bar offers all the regular Woods cocktails, as well as its own menu of summer favorites, like a frozen rum and pineapple Painkiller with nutmeg, served in a coconut, or a gingery twist on the Zombie.
