This theatre district–area Irish pub has two faces. Up front, a dimly lit bar gives way to four-tops covered with plastic tablecloths, while the back dining room (remodeled in 2006) boasts white linens, upholstered banquets, and live jazz during Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch. The menu is identical in both rooms: A jumble of Irish pub classics, like hearty shepherd’s pie and standard fish and chips, share the page with tourist-friendly dishes including spring rolls, a thick cheeseburger, and passable salads like the Santa Fe, drizzled with a not-so-zesty chipotle dressing. The brogue-sporting wait staff make solid drink recommendations (like lesser known Irish beers), but some entrees lauded for their popularity disappoint. Better to stick to the standards for a pre-Broadway bite, or try and catch a glimpse of Rupert Murdoch — newsmen from the nearby Post building have been known to down an after-work drink here.
