Opened in 1999 by restaurateur Raju Mirchandani, who also owns Hudson Bar and Lexington Bar and Books, Le Bateau Ivre (rough translation: drunken boat) is like a little piece of France floating in a sea of unremarkable Beekman-area restaurants. Come enjoy one of the 200 glasses of wine available by the glass. A lovely Gallic wine bar that also happens to have food, Bateau Ivre’s menu is especially good for salty frites and juicy, done-like-they-should-be burgers.
