In an area of Sheepshead Bay that's lacking in fine dining, the 2010-born Le Bouchon is an anomaly with its extensive wine list, seafood and steak-heavy menu, and appetizer selections that range from tuna tartare to foie gras. The dim, wine-bottle-lined space is both comfortable and cavelike, with a performance space for dinnertime shows. Skip the appetizers, like a thin cream of asparagus soup and bland mozzarella and tomato dish, and head straight for the steak cuts: a soft-as-butter filet mignon in a marsala wine sauce is only bested by (and perhaps surprisingly) an equally tender skirt steak flanked by shiitake mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes with the consistency of whipped butter. The cognac chicken, lightly fried and very moist, is also a standout. If there's room for dessert, go for Bouchon's signature apple strudel.
