At the rate he's going, Pino Luongo will soon have more Tuscan eateries than there are pizza parlors called Ray's. But of all of them, including his fertile Coco Pazzo chain, the restaurant with the most agreeable blending of atmosphere, design, and taste is Le Madri. Unlike his other tracts, buzzing with tension, this expansive space never forfeits its rustic nobility, no matter how busy it gets. So indulge your desire. Another espresso. Maybe a little grappa. If you're the one always in a rush, however, there are better places for you. Which is why they sell pizza by the slice. —Hal Rubenstein

Le Madri located in the heart of Chelsea is a place where you can escape to for a fine taste of Tuscany. The large dining room is especially inviting with numerous vines enthralled along the ceiling and there is also a brick oven for a nice warm touch. I heard someone from the table beside us say she felt like a grape in a vineyard. The menu is quite vast and very “Italian” You can start with homemade pasta but I chose the classic calamari. The roasted chicken was especially tender and served with creamy potatoes and brussel sprouts. The warm chocolate cake was the absolute final test for my friend and I, who is a warm chocolate cake connoisseur in her own right. She thought it measured up pretty well to the countless others she had around the city. As our dining experience came to an end, I found myself feeling as if I were a little closer to Italy. So if you’re trying to decide where to make your next reservations for some fine Italian dining in a warm rustic atmosphere, the exquisite service here alone should be your deciding factor. Bon appetite!!
