Former Kittichai pastry chef Hali Horn puts a traditional spin on the dessert bar trend with her nostalgic confectionary, featuring skillful takes on childhood favorites and soda-shop treats. Classic ice cream sundaes and egg creams have earned in the neighborhood, as have craveworthy creations like the s’mores popsicle and brownie sandwich. The shop's counter is flanked by wide, comfy leather stools, spacious tables speckle the slate-toned space, and colorful paintings of pin-up style diner waitresses oversee your sweet spree. Other standouts include the butterscotch pudding, which recalls the taste of Necco Mary Janes, and comes with sugar cookie for dunking. A slice of signature mud pie—with its dense layers of ganache, mousse, and fierce homemade coffee ice cream—is enough for two, while petite, golf ball-sized beignets are light, not oily, and can be greedily stuffed with chocolate cream. Seemingly sent from above for mamas-to-be, the menu touches on salty bites too, with cheese plates, fries, and a pickle plate.
Recommended Dishesbeignets filled with chocolate cream, $8; butterscotch pudding, $7; adventurous cheese plate, $15; malt, $8
