In the New York City pizza hierarchy, Mario’s falls somewhere between Ray’s Famous and Ray’s Original: in other words, it’s pretty run-of-the-mill. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing: slices are large, the cheese is greasy, and the crust is crisp and flavorful. Carnivores and vegetarians alike have plenty of options to choose from, but sticking with cheese or pepperoni is a safe move. Subs, calzones, and wings round out the menu, but Mario’s forte is the slice; anyone looking for a quick fix before heading underground to wait for that train back home will find nothing to complain about.
