Profile

Forsaking its cramped Mulberry Street location for the former Jet 19 not-spot on Cleveland Place, Mexican Radio is a middlebrow margarita-‘n’-fajitas joint for the thick-walleted Nolita set unafraid of carbo-loading and unfazed by the rather prohibitive $46 price tag for a pitcher of margarita. It’s like TGI Friday’s for trustifarians. Burritos, while generously proportioned, cost a surly $17, and the lousy, hurried service is a glorified Wall of Voodoo: The last time we frequented this headache of a restaurant, we waited ten minutes in front of a sea of empty tables at five o’clock while a can’t-be-bothered hostess diligently ignored us.

Really good classical mexican food and a very cozy downstairs type feel inside. Definetly a good place for a date and way better then the over priced dos caminos.

THAT profiler got it all wrong! opposite of our 500+ experiences with this terrific casual cuttingedge Mexican where everything is made fresh from scratch to order . one of the only "old neighborhood" joints left in the area which seems to trunover daily. true, most of us regulars are on a first name basis with the attentive, upbeat staff, like "cheers" Soho at the bar sometimes: some of them & us customers have been there for years. Mex radio is warm, friendly, reasonable - fantstic food, service, drinks, never dissapointed us once (see 500+ visits above). Cool space too. The $46 pitcher is top shelf, huge and worth every fresh squeezed couintreau kissed booze filled drop. Fun, festive reliably good - for a quick snack, drink or all night 5 course ending in FLAN (divine) apparantly declared 'best flan in america'...get extra to go & eat it for breakfast....mex radio and the shockingly -low- turnover -rate staff (great sign) has always been a huge asset to our community, happy to see it still going strong! Try the Mole, it can not be beat! Amazing coffee too !
