Profile

This Greenpoint restaurant is the ideal version of your casual but dependable neighborhood Italian spot, with blond wooden furniture and soft-gray tiling, mismatched pillows in a long booth, and a charming mural that depicts animals in people clothes running errands in a Brooklyn-ish setting. The menu carries the same casual-but-still-nice feel: The homemade pastas, for example, are dressed simply with mushrooms and thyme butter or anchovies and broccoli rabe. Everything is made with care by a Babbo veteran, and this expertise shows in the whole branzino, which is tender and tastes of the lemon and herbs it’s stuffed with. Naked Dog’s the type of place that’s good to have in your back pocket, not only for a pleasant dinner but for its takeout window on the west wall, which provides coffee, pastries, and sandwiches to East River Ferry commuters or anyone strolling through the neighborhood (with or without an unclothed dog.)

Note

A takeout window will open in the spring.
