The Naruto Ramen chain succeeds by offering a limited menu that doesn't try too hard. The restaurant does make some interesting décorative gestures; a "great wave"-like block print towers over a narrow, sushi-bar-style entryway leading into a main seating space splashed with a splashy combination of turquoise and heavy brick red. A small appetizer lineup includes a predictably tasteless mound of sautéed vegetables, the requisite gyoza dumplings, and a rubbery fried-chicken plate in need of additional flavorings (condiment racks unfortunately carry nothing but hot sauce). Entrées consist of a very limited selection of noodle-and-broth bowls, all of which insist on adding both pork slices and fish cakes to a clump of pasta strands too long to wrap around a single spoon. Thanks to this location’s highly trafficked Park Slope address (and dearth of restaurants nearby serving similar fare) many will visit--but likely few will return.
