Profile

Eschewing the fatty and fried foods served in most of the district's restaurants, Native brings healthy grilled pleasures to Harlem like a spicy Atlantic salmon in soy ginger sauce and light grilled lemon chicken salad. French-Caribbean flavored entrées like linguini with chicken in chipotle cream and steak au poivre round out the eclectic menu, where "lightly fried" calamari constitutes the greasiest dish.

On 8/11/09 I had the most offensive experience! Establishment is blazing HOT!!! Immediately inquired “what happened to the AC?” Staffer states “The AC broke yesterday” Surprise! 1 of the maybe 20 tables were occupied. B line to sit directly under a ceiling fan. Attempted to order a Happy Hour Special but told we must sit at the Bar to get HH Prices. Pointed out that the bar only had 2 seats left over in a corner where there was no fan so we requested an exception bc the AC was broken. Another staff states “We don’t even have an AC system here” I said, “Why did the 1st staffer LIE saying that the AC broke yesterday?” Requested that the staff go and ask the Owner (who was outside) if our request could be kindly obliged. Staff member states “He (the owner) said ‘If You Want To Talk to Him You Can Go Outside & Talk To Him Yourself…………” U-Turn for the Exist. Asked the owner specifically if he made that reprehensible statement and he began with a nervous stutter. Guilt written all over! Shit Service = Shit Not Worth My Time & Money.

much improved!

I have been frequenting the restaurant for several years. It seemed to go through a shaky period last summer but they have really improved! The price point for the portions is a great deal anywhere in town ( hello can everyione really affored $28 entrees?!)and the menu offers enought to please everyone (ahem my picky vegetarian friends). Its a great casual and date spot although I wouldnt use it for business meetings. I'm glad they've pulled it together because so many places lose steam after a couple of years.
