Set in a stunningly clever David Rockwell–designed room as homespun as it is elegant, Nobu Matsuhisa's simpler version of his South American-flecked Asian cooking matches its décor by making Nobu’s genius even more accessible. No-reservations, so come early, come late, come on Monday. Come Saturday, if you’re nuts. — Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

My husband took me to celebrate my birthday last Saturday. We were very disapponted when we came out. The waiter very unpleasant, probably wish he was somewhere else. Throughout the night he did not smile or offer a pleasant comment. It was my birhtday and he just brought the cake my husband order and leave it on the table. No smile or happy birthday. Sushi sucks!!!! Eaten much better elsewhere. Actually wish I was at Naritas in Forest Hills, Queens. Much, much better and waiters are very, very pleasant.
Will not recomment Nabu to anyone unless you want to waste money and eat lousy food.
My first trip was a great experience here so I took a friend that had never had sushi. We were seated right away, which was great, but the waiter was snotty and the sushi rolls were so so. I didn't convert my friend. I will give it another try but I think rolls with seaweed wrapped around the outside aren't as good as reverse rolled. Maybe just a matter of taste but I really wanted a certain type of roll and couldn't get what I wanted.
