Profile

This venue is closed.

Blockheads has changed with the times. Filled with rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, beef, and guacamole, lettuce and tomato, the chain's original burritos gave a considerable caloric bang for the buck. They were loaded with fat, carbs, protein, and the four basic food groups. Then, a fear of fat and sensitivity to dairy brought about healthy alternatives: soy cheese and tofu sour cream. The latest concession to the Age of Atkins can be found at Blockheads in the form of the low-carb burrito platter, which comes in a special whole-wheat tortilla with grilled chicken, spinach and cheese. Luckily, the attempt to lure healthy eaters hasn't affected Blockhead's decided emphasis on having a good time. Good music plays to an easy-going vibe inside. During lunch you'll find a mixed clientele: men discussing business, hospital workers, moms with toddlers. It's clear that the fare, filtered through health-conscious sensibilities, is not authentic—but that's okay. This take-out burrito joint is simply out to provide a faux-Mexican food fix.

Note

This Blockheads location is take-out only.
